NASMOTO Rules

The following rules and regulations supplement the 2006 AMA Sports Rules, and are solely applicable to supermoto competition. Participants must comply with the rules and regulations in both the AMA Sports Rules and in these AMA Supermoto Supplemental Rules.

Rules directed or related to safety are promulgated to make all persons concerned with safety, but the AMA neither warrants safety if the rules are followed nor compliance with an enforcement of the rules. Moreover, each participant in competition has the responsibility to assess the safety aspects of facilities and conditions, and must assume the risk of competition.

Motor vehicle mishaps, in competition or otherwise, can result in injury or death. Motor vehicles should never be used by minors without parental consent or supervision. Parents, legal guardians or authorized adults must remain present at all times during participation of AMA member in any sanctioned youth meet.

Mandatory Items

SupermMoto Minimum Rider Requirements

The following apparel MUST be worn by riders in ALL events:

  • Helmet (must be worn at all times while on course)
  • Boots
  • Goggles or face shield
  • Gloves (must be worn at all times while on course)
  • Riding Suits (One of the following) - One-Piece or two-pieces (connecting) leather or Kevlar riding suit - Commercially manufactured motocross jersey and pants will be accepted

Recommended items include:

  • Hard Shell Elbow pads
  • Knee cups
  • Hip Pads
  • Chest & back protector

SuperMoto ATV/Bike Requirements:

  • Safety Wire -Oil filter bolts (0.024”diameter minimum)
  • Safety Wire -Spin-on oil filters require metal clamps & safety wire
  • Safety Wire -Oil filler caps & oil lines
  • Safety Wire -Fork oil drain screws (tape or high intensity silicone may be sufficient)

Fluid Containment - A heat resistant Catch Can (6oz minimum) is required for the following:

  • Carburetor vent lines
  • Radiator overflow lines
  • Crankcase breather lines (unless vented to airbox. Airbox MUST have drain sealed)
  • Hand Guards
  • Peg and rear Axle Sliders
