Michigan-based Michael Stapula, mounted on a KTM, got the hole shot as local hero Ryan Yearwood of Precision Motorsports slotted into 2nd position.
Doug Farrar was in third and charging. Farrar showcased his roadracing skills on the asphalt but lost time in the technical dirt section. Farrar eventually stalled on the dirt and dropped out.
Stapula took the win with Yearwood second and Gary Gasper of Torrence, CA taking the last podium position.
